I had never heard of this place until L told me about it since her Korean friend had recommended it to her. So when she was in Seoul this past weekend, we went to Myeongdong to find one of the two locations. The restaurant was said to be very popular and it was – there was a long line up, even though the restaurant has two floors. Luckily, we arrived a little earlier for lunch and didn’t have to wait for more than ten minutes.
명동교자 only has four items on the menu – and yet that is perhaps the secret to its success. The food is good and the service is fast and efficient. As the menu only holds dumplings and three types of noodles, patrons are in and out in a heartbeat.
L and I decided to share the dumplings and ordered two of the noodles to try. Aside from the sesame cold noodles, I really liked the food. The dumplings were delicious – although the best ones I’ve ever tasted are still the ones in Shanghai. The noodles were soft and seemed as ‘fresh’ as noodles can be.
