Osaka Castle is one of Japan’s famous castles and thus, a must-see attraction while in Osaka. I didn’t know that the castle would be surrounded by a moat on a raised platform plot of land. Some of the rocks that make up the platform is quite huge and it baffled my mind to think of how the Japanese would have constructed this.
There was a pretty little path through the castle grounds as you get beyond the many walls that surround the castle.
And thus, the castle. It sort of reminded me of the bathhouse in Spirited Away – except that this was a castle and had green and gold adornments whereas the bathhouse had the more traditional Japanese red. I’ve always loved the architecture in Asia. I don’t know much (if anything) about architecture but it’s always been part of why I loved to travel – I like seeing how buildings and the cities themselves differ in its style and structure.
