Jinjuseong Fortress: Non Gae, a Gisaeng

During the battle of Jinju when the Japanese invaded Korea, Jinjuseong Fortress was taken by the Japanese. At the time, there was a gisaeng (a Korean female entertainer) named Non Gae. She lured a Japanese general out to this rock by the river, wrapped him in her embrace, and fell into the river; essentially drowning them both. She’s been praised for her act and a memorial shrine has been erected in her honour.
