Seoul Metropolitan Library

Once the City Hall, the building has now been renovated into the Seoul Metropolitan Library. It’s perhaps once of the nicest libraries that I’ve ever been in. Except that I did find the exterior of it more aesthetically pleasing than the interior. I did really like the stairs in the general collection and children’s books section. As did all these Koreans spending their Saturday afternoon at the library. It’s also the location of an episode of Running Man and PSY’s music video.

I’ve been doing the Bingo stamp challenge that’s promoting Hallyu in Seoul. When I went to the information desk here and asked for the stamp – they also gave me the button pin set and handkerchief that you’re supposed to only get after completing Bingo lines. Which I hadn’t done yet… So while it’s nice that she just wanted to give me the souvenirs, she also took out the fun and challenge of the whole thing. Still, thanks for the souvenirs.

At the top of the building, there is a mini museum to show the construction of the old City Hall building, a cafe, and a open park area with a nice view of Namsan Tower, Gwanghwamun, and Gyeongbokgung.
