Many celebrities in Korea open up their own restaurants and cafes. It’s a great way to cater to their fans and of course make the most out of their fans’ love. Not that I’m complaining.
In Myeongdong, one can find Cafe JHolic, that’s owned by Jaejoong actor and singer of the trio JYJ.
It’s a simple cafe in its interior with the main colours of yellow and black in its decor. The menu is pretty standard for all cafes. And of course, there is a lot of exclusive merchandise that you can only get at the cafe.
I decided to try the mango smoothie and cheese cake. The mango smoothie was decent but the cheese cake was abysmal. I’ve been searching for good cheese cake in Korea. And it seems to be a hard thing to do. But seriously, Jaejoong or whoever actually manages the cafe, you need better cheese cake. Not this dry and spongelike piece of food you call and sell as cheesecake.
Even so, I’m sure that the fans aren’t visiting this cafe for the cheese cake.
In order to get here, go to Myeongdong Station, exit 6. Walk down the main shopping street and turn left at the Dunkin Donuts. Turn right at the next alley and the cafe is on the second level of a store called Mag n Mag on your left side.
