I have been to all the main and well-known palaces in Seoul already. Unhyeongung is a much smaller (and free) palace in the city. Just as nice with the traditional Korean architecture and a lot quieter. This was more of a royal residence, rather than an official palace.
Although I didn’t take the opportunity to do this (yet), you can try a hanbok (Korean traditional clothing) experience here for 3300 won. I think that it’d be fun to do while doing a little photoshoot around the palace.
Perhaps because of its quiet atmosphere and the lack of people around, this palace is popular with photographers and young families who want a traditional Korean photoshoot. I spotted a couple of young families with a hired professional photographer around the palace. It was really cute and precious seeing the little babies and toddlers all dressed up.
For a nice small palace experience here at Unhyeongung, go to Anguk Station, exit 4. It’s just a short walk from the subway exit.
