Peru, Part Siete: Uros Reed Islands in Puno

In Puno, we had a chance to visit Lake Titicaca and the Uros Reed Islands. These islands are literally made out of reeds and the people who live on them are very resourceful. They create the islands, their homes, their boats, and crafts with reeds. And part of their diet also consists of the reeds! Without a doubt, a very unique and interesting experience. We decided to support the family we visited by purchasing a few of their handmade crafts and then riding the reed boat.

An amazing trip in Peru, without a doubt. Even though the sleep deprivation and altitude sickness made the last few days harder for me, I still really enjoyed this little adventure. I’m looking forward to my next trip to South America. I’ve got a hankering to go to Bolivia.
